Watson
This garden was designed to complement a new build in Watson. The original tiny Government house was knocked down and the garden 1 bedroom unit was retained. The house is adjacent to the large cricket oval with a stand of tall gums on the public side of the fence line.
The new family home designed by Gina from CarmodybyDesign, and built by Jack Gumley provided a generous upstairs terrace to view the oval and enjoy the tree canopy.
The design of the garden included a shady Silver Birch forrest garden to provide privacy between the two dwellings. As these trees grow, their stark white trunks will contrast with the Canberra reds and contemporary concrete panelling of the new home.
The house and garden made the most of the block and the location, and is now an excellent spot to enjoy the dappled shade through to the oval.
